South Korea University Admissions System Outage Affects Up to 1,200 Applicants
South Korea's Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education are addressing a system outage that prevented up to 1,200 applicants from completing their university applications shortly before the deadline. The issue occurred at the Uway Apply agency, which handles university admissions. The outage began around 17:50 on Friday, the deadline day, and lasted until approximately 18:20. Although the agency extended the deadline until 19:00, some applicants reported not receiving notification of this extension. The Ministry of Education confirmed that 2.61 million applications were submitted during the early university admissions round. An exceptional procedure will allow affected applicants to complete their submissions if they can prove the technical problem prevented them from doing so. Eligibility will be determined by server records confirming attempts to fill out, save, or submit forms, or make payments before the original deadline.
