Caribbean Watches Tropical Wave’s Fight to Become Dolly
A tropical wave moving across the Atlantic could soon develop into a tropical depression or become Tropical Storm Dolly, but dry air and strong wind shear may limit its strengthening near the Caribbean. The system is expected to approach the Leeward Islands this weekend, bringing locally heavy downpours, gusty thunderstorms and rough seas. Forecasts suggest 1–4 inches of rain from the Leeward Islands through Puerto Rico, depending on its track and intensity. While rapid strengthening appears unlikely, the system could still reorganise later if it moves into more favourable conditions north of Cuba.
