Angelina Bruno Appointed 2026 Michael and Deborah Thawley Scholar in International Security at Lowy Institute
Angelina Bruno, an Australian economist and policy analyst, has been named the 2026 Michael and Deborah Thawley Scholar in International Security at the Lowy Institute and the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Currently on leave from her role as an Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia, Bruno is pursuing a Master of International Public Policy at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Her academic focus at SAIS includes China, Southeast Asia, and security studies. Bruno's research at the Lowy Institute will delve into critical areas such as energy security asymmetries within the Indo-Pacific region, the dynamics of Chinese economic growth, and the broader global spillovers affecting Pacific Island countries.
