Italy Foils Russia-Linked Cyberattacks Targeting Winter Olympics
Italy has successfully thwarted a series of cyberattacks aimed at its foreign ministry offices and Winter Olympics websites, including hotels in Cortina d'Ampezzo. The attacks, believed to be of Russian origin, were prevented just days before the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Milan. Italy's Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani announced the prevention during a visit to Washington, highlighting the country's proactive measures in cybersecurity. The Italian government has deployed 6,000 security officers across the Games sites, including bomb disposal experts and anti-terrorism units.
