Trucker Dad Dies in First Fatal Lightning Strike of the Year in Wisconsin
Peter Garamone, a 41-year-old trucker from Pennsylvania, tragically died after being struck by lightning in Pewaukee, Wisconsin. This incident marks the first recorded lightning fatality in the United States for the year. Garamone was walking to his vehicle at a gas station when he was hit by what witnesses described as an exceptionally loud thunderbolt. Despite managing to call 911, he was later pronounced dead at a hospital. The National Lightning Safety Council has recorded this as the first lightning-related death of the year, with 21 such fatalities reported last year. Garamone's death comes shortly after his father completed cancer treatment, adding to the family's grief.
