Federal Judge Blocks Louisiana's Attempt to Restrict Abortion Pill Access
A federal judge has denied a legal bid by the Republican-led state of Louisiana to temporarily block remote access to the abortion pill mifepristone. The complaint challenges the FDA's decision to allow mifepristone to be dispensed through mail-order channels, a move made after the Supreme Court overturned Roe vs Wade. Louisiana's Attorney General Liz Murrill plans to appeal the decision, which was opposed by the US government and mifepristone manufacturers. The FDA is currently reviewing the drug's risk evaluation and mitigation strategy (REMS) to determine if changes to access pathways are necessary.
