Spanish National Police Evicts Migrant Camp in Ceuta Ahead of Royal Visit
The Spanish National Police initiated the eviction of the El Guano migrant camp in Ceuta on Sunday morning. This operation targets the last major improvised camp in the autonomous city, which had become a central gathering point for migrants following a large influx in late July. Similar operations have recently occurred at Benítez and El Trampolín beaches, where authorities dismantled settlements and relocated migrants to official reception facilities. The El Guano camp was estimated to house around 500 individuals, though its population had gradually decreased. The police intervention involved agents from the Intervention Police Unit (UIP), the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR), and immigration officers, supported by unmanned aerial vehicles to monitor the area. This action takes place just over 48 hours before an official visit by King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, as Ceuta continues to manage the aftermath of the migration crisis that began over two months ago.
