UNESCO Initiates Disaster Early Warning Project in Vietnam to Enhance School Safety
UNESCO, in collaboration with the Nghe An People's Committee, has launched a project aimed at strengthening Vietnam's capacity for early warnings, disaster risk reduction, and creating safer learning environments. This initiative comes in response to a series of severe disasters, including Typhoons Wipha, Bualoi, and Matmo, which have caused significant loss of life, infrastructure damage, and disruption to education in various communities. The project focuses on upgrading near/real-time early warning systems and enhancing the preparedness and resilience of communities, particularly in the Tuong Duong and Muong Xen communes within the UNESCO Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve.
