Strangers Raise $2 Million for 88-Year-Old Supermarket Worker to Retire
An 88-year-old veteran, Ed Bambas, who worked at a Detroit supermarket, has received nearly $2 million in donations through a GoFundMe campaign. The fundraiser was initiated by content creator Samuel Weidenhofer to help Bambas retire. Bambas, who lost his pension after General Motors went bankrupt in 2009, had been working five days a week to make ends meet. The campaign quickly surpassed its $1 million goal, with over 65,000 people contributing. Bambas expressed gratitude for the support, which will allow him to retire and enjoy his later years without financial stress.
