North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un Inspects Munitions Factories, Calls for AI and Automation Upgrades
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un conducted a three-day inspection tour of several major munitions factories, according to state media reports. During his visits, which took place from Wednesday to Friday, Kim Jong Un emphasized the need to expand production capacity and modernize the country's weapons systems. A key focus of his directive was the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation into the manufacturing processes. The ruling party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on these inspections, stating that Kim reviewed production at various enterprises under the Second Economic Commission, which is responsible for overseeing defense manufacturing. While the specific locations of the plants were not disclosed, analysis of accompanying photos suggests that some of the facilities produce North Korea’s 600mm super-large multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
