FEMA Allocates $44M for Disaster Resilience in Southeast
FEMA has announced over $44 million in federal funding to support disaster resilience projects across eight Southeastern states, including North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The funding is distributed through three key programs: the Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program, the Community Assistance Program – State Support Services Element, and the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program. The majority of the funds, $41.1 million, will focus on infrastructure improvements to mitigate flood risks, while other projects address hazards such as earthquakes and wildfires. This initiative is part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act.
