North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences Offers Free Admission and Diverse Exhibits
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh provides free admission to its extensive exhibits, which span from ancient history to contemporary natural science. The museum is composed of two connected buildings: the original Nature Exploration Center and the newer Nature Research Center. Visitors can explore a wide array of topics including geology, marine life, mammals, birds, insects, and the natural history of North Carolina. A notable feature in the Nature Research Center is the Daily Planet room, which houses a massive suspended globe and allows visitors to observe scientists conducting real-time research through large windows. The museum also includes a living conservatory with various animals and a butterfly garden. Among its prominent displays are a T. rex skeleton engaged in a dramatic pose with an Acrocanthosaurus model, and a colossal blue whale skeleton. The facility also boasts a rooftop terrace offering views of downtown Raleigh and a garden, alongside an on-site cafe.
