Wildfires Intensify in Greece as France and Spain Struggle with Blazes
Greece is experiencing severe wildfires, exacerbated by gale-force winds, which have forced evacuations in multiple areas. The fires have spread rapidly, particularly near Porto Germeno, northwest of Athens, where authorities have issued evacuation orders for several towns. The situation is described as extremely challenging due to strong winds and unpredictable fire behavior. In France, a fire in the Var department, previously under control, has flared up again, leading to the evacuation of nearly 2,500 people. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze amid strengthening winds. Spain is also dealing with several wildfire hotspots, although the national emergency declared due to fires in central provinces has ended.
