Xcel Energy Equipment Failure Causes Power Outage, Delays Twins' Home Opener
Xcel Energy experienced a power outage in downtown Minneapolis, affecting approximately 1,500 customers, including Target Field, where the Minnesota Twins were set to play their home opener against the Tampa Bay Rays. The outage occurred at around 1:51 p.m. CT, about 80 minutes before the scheduled first pitch. According to Rob Clark from Xcel Energy, the outage was due to an equipment failure along the main power line serving the stadium. Crews responded promptly, restoring power by 2:55 p.m. CT. The game, initially delayed, commenced at 4:07 p.m. CT after a 57-minute delay. The Twins extended their pregame happy hour to accommodate fans during the delay.
