Northeast India Faces Fresh Very Heavy Rain: Meghalaya, Assam And Bengal Under Extended Wet Spell
Northeast India is currently experiencing a significant weather event characterized by very heavy rainfall, with specific warnings for extremely heavy downpours in isolated areas of Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that these conditions are expected to persist throughout the week, affecting neighboring states including Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh with continued heavy showers. This prolonged wet spell is raising serious concerns about potential fresh flooding, particularly in the Brahmaputra river basin.
