Iran Attacks Indian-Flagged Vessels in Strait of Hormuz, Raising Tensions
Two Indian-flagged vessels were attacked by Iran while attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, despite having received clearance for the journey. The incident was confirmed by India's External Affairs Ministry, which expressed deep concern over the attack. The vessels were carrying crude oil, and the crew of the attacked vessel, Sanmar Herald, was reported safe. India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, met with Iran's ambassador to New Delhi, Mohammad Fathali, to convey India's concerns and urge the resumption of safe passage for India-bound ships.
