Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin Defeats Incumbent John Larson in Connecticut Democratic Primary
Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin has won the Democratic primary for Connecticut's 1st Congressional District, defeating long-time incumbent U.S. Rep. John Larson. Bronin secured 53.6% of the vote, while Larson received 33.3%. The primary also included two other candidates who collectively garnered about 13% of the votes. Bronin's campaign emphasized the need for generational change, contrasting with Larson's 28-year tenure in Congress. Larson, who had the backing of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), expressed disappointment but acknowledged the voters' decision. Bronin, who has been endorsed by the state Democratic Party, focused on issues such as supporting Israel's Iron Dome while opposing additional offensive weapons for the country.
