Iran Summons Ukrainian Diplomat After Attack on Sanctioned Vessel in Caspian Sea
Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Ukraine's chargé d'affaires in Tehran following an attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea. The vessel, involved in transporting military cargo from Iran to Russia, was targeted by the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) on July 25. The attack resulted in the death of one sailor and injury to another. Iran has condemned the incident as an act of aggression and a hostile attack, asserting its right to defend its national interests. The vessels involved, including the BEGEY and PORT OLYA 2, are under international sanctions by the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Ukraine for their role in weapons logistics.
