Federal Judge Demands Legal Justification for Detention of Ghanaian Mother and Son at Dulles Airport
Anabella Gyasi, a pregnant woman from Ghana, and her four-year-old son have been detained at Dulles International Airport for over a week, despite having valid tourist visas. Gyasi traveled to the U.S. for her son's medical treatment, but was detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) amid the Trump administration's immigration policies. The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed a habeas petition, arguing that their detention violates regulations requiring the release of at-risk individuals, such as pregnant women and children. Gyasi has experienced pregnancy complications during her detention, raising concerns about her health and that of her unborn child.
