John Oliver, host of HBO's 'Last Week Tonight,' criticized President Trump's use of pardons, highlighting how the president prioritizes supporters and MAGA donors. Oliver noted that while the power to pardon is constitutionally enshrined and often beneficial, Trump has used it to pardon allies and well-known figures like George Santos and Rudy Giuliani. In his second term, Trump has issued nearly 2,000 pardons, with more planned for the U.S.'s 250th birthday. Oliver pointed out that Trump's pardons often bypass traditional systems, favoring 'cronies and friends,' and include controversial figures like January 6 Capitol rioters.
