Torrance Postal Carrier Sentenced for Mail Theft to Fund Luxury Lifestyle
Mary Ann Magdamit, a former U.S. Postal Service carrier in Torrance, California, has been sentenced to over five years in federal prison for stealing mail to fund a lavish lifestyle. Magdamit, 31, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank fraud, admitting to stealing credit cards, checks, and unemployment benefits from her postal route. She used the stolen funds to purchase luxury goods and finance international vacations, often flaunting her wealth on social media. Federal investigators linked over 100 stolen cards to Magdamit through activation records and social media posts. Despite a raid on her home in December 2024, which uncovered numerous stolen items, Magdamit continued her fraudulent activities until her arrest.
