UN Secretary-General Calls for Adaptation of Peace Operations Amid Rising Global Conflicts
UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged the United Nations and its Member States to adapt peace operations to address the current global landscape, which is experiencing the highest number of conflicts since 1945. Guterres presented the first-ever review on the future of all forms of UN peace operations at UN Headquarters in New York. This review, requested by the landmark Pact for the Future, offers recommendations on how the UN's tools can be adjusted to meet evolving needs and future challenges. He emphasized that while UN peace operations are indispensable for maintaining international peace and security, they must become more effective by adapting to new realities.
