Far-Right Protesters Block Coaches Carrying Asylum Seekers in Portsmouth

Hundreds of far-right activists have gathered in Portsmouth, England, to protest the arrival of approximately 140 asylum seekers. The asylum seekers were intercepted in a small boat heading towards the Hampshire coast and brought ashore in Portsmouth. The Home Office plans to transport them to Manston, Kent, for processing. However, videos circulating on social media show protesters blocking coaches intended to transport the asylum seekers, preventing their departure. Daniel Thomas, also known as Danny Tommo, a far-right activist, livestreamed the event and encouraged others to join the protest. Thomas has previously been involved in anti-migrant activities, including blocking part of the port of Dover and attempting to stop boats in France, which led to him being banned from the country. This incident marks the first time such a large boat of asylum seekers has arrived in Portsmouth and the first time a significant group of anti-migrant protesters has attempted to block their processing.
