Poland Thwarts Russian Plot to Assassinate Ukrainian-American in Warsaw
Poland has successfully intercepted a Russian plan to assassinate a Ukrainian-American citizen in Warsaw. The Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, announced that this was the first instance of a Russian-ordered attack on a U.S. citizen in a NATO country. The suspect, allegedly recruited by Russian secret services, was detained by Polish authorities on August 7 and will remain in custody for three months. The operation was conducted in collaboration with U.S. intelligence services. The targeted individual was described as a U.S. citizen of Ukrainian origin, considered 'uncomfortable' for the Putin regime. The Russian foreign ministry has not commented on the incident, and the U.S. State Department acknowledged awareness of the reports but provided no additional information.
