Karina, Lowell Set to Strengthen as Pacific Heats Up
The Pacific is becoming increasingly active as Tropical Storms Karina and Lowell are forecast to intensify this weekend. Karina, moving northwest, could become a hurricane by this weekend, while Lowell may reach hurricane strength by Saturday night. Neither storm currently threatens land, though Lowell could move toward the Central Pacific and potentially bring indirect impacts to Hawaii. Forecasters are also watching a disturbance southwest of Mexico with a high chance of development over the next seven days.
