Miami Shores Detective Arrested in Multi-Million Dollar Fraud Scheme Targeting Washington Senior
Detective Shmueal Mauda, 36, of the Miami Shores Police Department (MSPD), has been arrested in Davie, Florida, on five identity theft charges originating from Washington state. Mauda, also known as Sam Mauda, was subsequently placed on unpaid leave from the MSPD. He was taken into custody along with two co-defendants: Elisha Mauda, 39, also of Pembroke Pines, and Brent Small, 58, of Airmont, New York. The arrests are linked to a fraud case reported earlier in the year in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, where a senior citizen reported over $1 million stolen from their account. Sedro-Woolley police investigations, which involved over 50 search warrants, traced the stolen money through multiple companies and bank accounts. Authorities also identified those who accessed the victim’s bank account and moved the funds.
