Hungarian Government Allegedly Offers Intelligence to Iran Post-Hezbollah Explosions
The Hungarian government reportedly offered intelligence support to Iran following the September 2024 Hezbollah pager detonations, which injured over 3,600 people, primarily Hezbollah members. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto allegedly communicated with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, promising to share all gathered information. This action appears to contradict Hungary's official policy of supporting Israel. Additionally, leaked audio recordings suggest Szijjarto offered to send Russia a document regarding Ukraine's EU accession, indicating Hungary's warm relations with Moscow. These revelations have raised concerns about Hungary's alignment with Russian interests and its impact on EU efforts to aid Ukraine.
