Steve Hilton and Tom Steyer Neck-and-Neck in California Primary Poll
Republican Steve Hilton and Democrat Tom Steyer are tied in the race for the upcoming California primary election, according to a recent poll by the California Post. Both candidates have garnered 25% support among likely voters. The poll, conducted between May 26 and 28, surveyed 800 likely voters and has a margin of error of 3.5%. Former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, who was considered a frontrunner, trails in third place with 19% support. The poll also highlights that 15% of respondents completed their interviews in Spanish, reflecting the diverse electorate. Steyer, a billionaire hedge fund founder, has invested over $200 million in his campaign, focusing on progressive policies such as increasing taxes on the wealthy. Despite this significant spending, the poll indicates a competitive race, with Hilton showing strong support among Republicans and independents.
