Putin Increases Security Measures Amid Assassination Fears, Report Claims
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly heightened his security measures due to fears of assassination, according to a leaked European intelligence report. The report suggests that Putin is spending extended periods in an underground bunker in the Krasnodar region. This move comes amid concerns over his safety following the assassination of a top general, Fanil Sarvarov, who was killed by a bomb in December. The report also notes that Putin has ceased visiting his residences in Moscow Oblast and Valdai, Novgorod Oblast, following unverified claims of an attempted attack on his personal residence. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) has observed increased security measures, including the deployment of air defense systems near Putin's residences. These actions are reportedly in response to the growing threat of Ukrainian long-range drone strikes, which have intensified in recent months.
