Uganda Aims for $500 Billion Economy Driven by AI and Digital Infrastructure
Uganda is embarking on an ambitious plan to transform its economy from approximately $50 billion to $500 billion, primarily through significant investments in artificial intelligence (AI), digital infrastructure, and innovation. This initiative was a central theme at the 3rd National ICT Summit, organized by the ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU). Justine Kasule Lumumba, Minister for ICT and National Guidance, representing President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, officially opened the summit. Discussions focused on leveraging Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance productivity, foster innovation, add value, and expand markets across the country. Dr. Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, highlighted the necessity of a sustained annual growth rate of about 15% to achieve this economic target.
