Maldivian Diver Dies During Recovery Mission for Italian Tourists
Sergeant Major Mohamed Mahudhee, a Maldivian diver, died while participating in a recovery mission for five Italian tourists who perished in a scuba diving accident in the Maldives. The incident occurred in Vaavu Atoll, where Mahudhee fell ill during the third day of operations and was subsequently taken to a hospital, where he passed away. The tourists, including a marine biology professor and her daughter, were exploring underwater caves when they failed to resurface. Only one body has been recovered so far, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
