Nor’easter Targets New England With Damaging Winds and Rain
A strengthening September nor’easter will bring major coastal flooding from North Carolina to New York through Friday before targeting New England this weekend. Water levels could rise 2 to 3 feet above average, with some locations nearing 6 feet above normal. Southeastern New England faces damaging winds, potentially reaching hurricane force, along with heavy rain, power outages and coastal flooding. Rainfall could reach 4 to 8 inches across parts of Massachusetts, with a local maximum of 13 inches. The full moon will also raise tides, worsening coastal flooding and beach erosion.
