Republican Groups Outspend Democrats Three-to-One in NY-17 Congressional Race
In New York's 17th Congressional District (NY-17), Republican groups are significantly outspending their Democratic counterparts in the race between incumbent Representative Mike Lawler and challenger Cait Conley. As of mid-September, Republican groups had spent over $825,000, compared to at least $251,000 by Democratic groups. The Congressional Leadership Fund has reserved $6.7 million in ad time, while Lawler's campaign and a Republican dark-money group have spent an additional $2.8 million and $2.1 million, respectively, on advertisements. In contrast, House Majority Forward, a Democratic group, has reserved $270,000. This spending disparity is notable given that NY-17 is a district that Kamala Harris carried in 2024, yet Lawler won by approximately 24,000 votes in the same year.
