Ukrainian drones targeted energy and military sites in St Petersburg, Russia, coinciding with the opening of the city's major economic forum. The strikes hit oil storage facilities and the Kronstadt naval base, causing significant damage and embarrassment for the Kremlin. The attacks occurred just 10 miles from the forum venue, where Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to speak. The forum, often referred to as 'Russia's Davos,' is expected to host around 20,000 visitors from 130 countries. The strikes have disrupted travel plans for some attendees, as St Petersburg's airport was temporarily closed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy described the strikes as part of Ukraine's 'long-range sanctions' strategy, aimed at bringing peace closer by targeting key Russian facilities.
