President Trump Proposes Compensation Fund for Victims of Government 'Weaponization'
President Trump is advocating for the creation of a compensation fund, reportedly close to two billion dollars, aimed at victims of alleged government 'weaponization.' This initiative is part of a broader effort to resolve his ongoing lawsuit against the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The lawsuit stems from a 2023 incident where a government contractor was found guilty of stealing and leaking Trump's tax information. The proposed fund would be managed by a 'Truth and Justice Commission,' which emerged from discussions between the White House and the Department of Justice (DOJ). The DOJ is reportedly finalizing the details of this commission. In exchange for the establishment of the fund, Trump plans to drop two civil claims totaling $230 million, related to the 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago and the Russia collusion investigation during his first term. Although Trump himself would not receive direct payments from the fund, entities associated with him could potentially file claims.
