UN Report Reveals Transnational Networks Fueling Sudan War with Foreign Contractors and Weapons
A United Nations report has revealed that transnational networks are significantly fueling the ongoing conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission for the Sudan, mandated by the U.N. Human Rights Council, found reasonable grounds to believe that a network supplied the RSF with weapons, logistics, training, and foreign personnel, including up to 2,000 former Colombian military personnel operating combat drones, artillery, and other advanced weapons. The report specifically implicated individuals and entities operating from, registered in, or linked to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the recruitment, financing, transportation, and deployment of foreign military contractors and the provision of military-related support to the RSF.
