Post-Tropical Storm Brings Flooding to Southwest
A post-tropical storm is causing significant coastal flooding, heavy rain, and strong winds across the southwestern United States, particularly in California. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has reported that water levels along the California coast are running as much as 1.5 feet above predictions, exacerbated by a near-record strong super El Niño event in the tropical Pacific. This phenomenon has led to higher-than-average water levels and worsened by waves from powerful offshore hurricanes in the eastern Pacific. Some areas in Southern California have already experienced severe damage, with homes lost to the sea. Inland regions, including parts of Arizona, southern Nevada, and Utah, are also experiencing wind gusts between 45 to 65 mph. The storm is expected to dissipate over the southwestern states, but hazardous coastal conditions are likely to persist into the following week. (Source time: Sat, 10 Oct 2026 19:13:21 GMT)
