White House Correspondents' Dinner Rescheduled After Assassination Attempt on President Trump
The White House Correspondents’ Association is set to hold a rescheduled press dinner on July 24, following an abrupt end to the original event in April due to an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump. The initial dinner, attended by over 2,000 journalists, lawmakers, and celebrities, was disrupted when a gunman breached security at the Washington Hilton Hotel. The suspect, Cole Tomas Allen, engaged in a shootout with officers, resulting in a Secret Service agent being shot in the vest. The rescheduled event will take place at the Waldorf-Astoria with enhanced security measures. The dinner aims to raise funds for First Amendment scholarships and will honor individuals who acted during the attempted shooting.
