USDA Announces Disaster Designation for Pennsylvania Counties After April Freeze
U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins, in collaboration with U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, announced a disaster designation for 17 counties in Pennsylvania affected by a severe freeze in April. The freeze, occurring from April 19 to 21, resulted in significant crop damage and losses. The USDA's designation allows affected farmers to access emergency loans and other support programs to aid in recovery. The counties included in the designation are Adams, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Luzerne, Lycoming, Monroe, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, and York. Farmers have until January 26, 2027, to apply for these loans. The USDA is also reviewing disaster designations for other counties in the state.
