India Supports Uzbekistan's NAM Chairmanship Bid, Strengthening Bilateral Relations
India has conveyed its support for Uzbekistan's bid to chair the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) for the 2027-2029 period. This was announced by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during a meeting with Uzbekistan's Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, who is visiting India. The meeting highlighted shared perspectives on international and regional issues, particularly terrorism, extremism, and drug trafficking. Both countries cooperate in various forums, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. The discussions also emphasized the potential for expanding economic ties, particularly in the mining sector, and the importance of educational exchanges.
