Governor Hochul Selects Adrienne Adams as Running Mate, Forming Historic All-Female Ticket
Governor Kathy Hochul of New York has announced former New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams as her running mate for the upcoming election. This decision marks the creation of the first all-female statewide ticket for a major party in New York's history and only the fifth such ticket in the United States. Hochul praised Adams for her leadership and advocacy during her tenure as Council Speaker, highlighting her efforts in affordable housing, child investment, and city protection. The announcement comes as Hochul's Democratic primary opponent, Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado, named India Walton as his running mate. The new law requires gubernatorial candidates to have an official running mate for both the primary and general elections. Adams, a moderate Democrat from Southeast Queens, expressed her enthusiasm for joining Hochul's campaign, emphasizing her commitment to addressing New York's challenges.
