Alleged ShinyHunters Leader Arrested in Jordan, Cooperating with FBI on Cybercrime Investigations
An individual identified as Saif al-Din Khader, also known as Rey, believed to be the leader of the cyber extortion group ShinyHunters, has been arrested in Jordan. Khader, a teenage cybercriminal from Amman, is reportedly cooperating with the FBI to identify other members of the ShinyHunters group. This arrest follows a recent incident where ShinyHunters hacked and defaced the FBI’s jobs site, FBIJobs.gov, claiming to have stolen 2-3 terabytes of data and sending a sample list of 5,000 FBI employees to the media. Khader is also associated with the Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters group. The arrest comes shortly after Dutch police announced the apprehension of a 24-year-old man from Amsterdam, Pepijn van der Stap, in connection with the FBI's investigation into ShinyHunters.
