What's Happening?
A Little League game in Penfield, New York was temporarily halted when a dust devil formed between third base and home plate during the top of the third inning. The whirlwind caused players and umpires to leave the field as it moved towards the outfield. The dust devil lasted approximately 30 seconds before dissipating, allowing the game to resume. The Penfield 11 & under AA Crimson Pride team eventually won the game and the championship. Dust devils, according to the National Weather Service, can reach speeds of over 60 miles per hour and grow up to 300 feet in diameter and 1,000 feet in height.
