Commonwealth Games as the dream run of Indian boxers in the semifinal continues as they won their respective semifinal clashes on Friday (July 31) at Glasgow's Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SEC) in Glasgow. After six Indian women boxers made the semi-final, each of them won the clash and will now fight for the gold medal on Saturday (August 1). Jasmine defeated Lesotho's Maselele by a knockout in the semifinal and will face Northern Ireland's Walsh in the final of the women's 57 kg category. Earlier, she started her campaign by defeating England's Glynn in the quarterfinals after getting a bye in the rounds of 32 and 16. Preeti beat Zambia's Mbawpe in her last four clashes in the Women's 54 kg category. She will face Canada's Dalgedo in the final. Earlier, she defeated Malawi's Mtenje and Northern Ireland's Clyde in her first two rounds to reach the semi-final. She got a bye in the first round. Arundhati was also handed a bye in both the round of 32 and the pre-quarterfinal round. She defeated New Zealand's Eccles in today's semi-final after beating New Zealand's Henderson in the quarter-final. The 23-year-old will face England's Reid in the final of the Women's 70 category. Sakshi defeated Canada's Wall in the semifinal of the women's 51 kg category. She had beaten Northern Ireland's Fryers and Botswana's Modukanele earlier. Priya defeated England's Kings-Wheatley in the semi-final. Earlier, she got a bye in the first two rounds before beating Scotland's Mitchell in the quarter-final. Lovlina got a bye in the quarterfinal and defeated Tuvalu's Taafaki in the semifinal of the Women's 75 kg category. A total of 10 Indians, including six women, secured medals in a record tally for the Indian contingent. Among the male boxers, Ankush Panghal and Jadumani Singh have also secured a spot in the summit clash.
