Pakistan cricket has dropped a massive hint about a U-turn on boycotting the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match. For the unversed, the Pakistan government
said that the team will not play the T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India to show solidarity with Bangladesh, who were replaced by Scotland after they refused to play in India. Pakistan's boycott of India led to chaos in the International Cricket Council (ICC). A boycott would cost ICC around 2200 crore rupees, and the apex body put in all the effort to solve the deadlock. The boycott would not have only affected the BCCI, PCB, or ICC, but the other boards as well. Sri Lanka, as host, was also set to lose millions due to the cancellation. The Sri Lanka cricket association (SLC) wrote to PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, asking him to rethink the boycott, and it seems that the move has worked. Sri Lanka supported Pakistan in tough times by touring the country, and it is time for Pakistan to return the favour. A source said that the PCB will not let go of Sri Lanka's request without thinking about it. So the mail from their Board can't be ignored just like that,” a source was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Mohsin Naqvi To Talk To Shehbaz Sharif
“Mohsin Naqvi has been contacted directly by the Sri Lankan Board President Shammi Silva and been reminded that at this time Sri Lanka need Pakistan to step up for them as without Pakistan and India matches, the Sri Lankan Board would stand to lose extra revenues from gate money, hospitality sales etc,” the source added. The source further said that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi will consult the government again on playing the T20 World Cup match against India due to a request by the Sri Lanka cricket. “PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has not even been in the country since yesterday and is due back today. He will bring the email to the notice of the Prime Minister on ending the boycott of the India match and then a decision would be made on the matter by Monday,” the source said.
