Abhishek Sharma punished the New Zealand bowlers and shattered multiple records as he scored a quickfire 113 off just 38 balls in the third T20I of the five-match
series to take India to a series win. Abhishek went big from the word go and played big shots. Batting at a strike rate of 297.37, Abhishek hit 11 sixes and 9 fours. The left-handed batter didn't stop playing risky cricket and completed his century with a four. Abhishek has now hit three centuries for India in T20I cricket. Overall, he has scored 11 centuries in the shortest format. Courtesy of his heroics in Wellington, Abhishek created history and became the Indian batter with the most T20 centuries. He went past Virat Kohli, who has 10 centuries. Kohli only scored one century in T20Is before retiring from the shortest format. He has nine centuries for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL. Kohli now only plays IPL and ODI cricket. Abhishek has a long career ahead of him and he can become the first-ever Indian to score 20 centuries in the coming years. Abhishek has been unstoppable since his T20I debut in 2024 and he has scored 2127 runs in 69 T20Is. He has a strike rate of 193.36. He has hit 147 sixes in only two years in international cricket. Abhishek is yet to earn his maiden ODI call-up. He hasn't played first-class cricket since 2024 and isn't in contention to make it to the red-ball team.
Chris Gayle on top
Chris Gayle tops the overall list of batters with the most T20 centuries. He finished his T20 career with 22 centuries. He is followed by Babar Azam, who has 13 centuries. Babar isn't part of Pakistan's T20I team, but he plays in the Pakistan Super League. Abhishek can overtake the former Pakistan captain in the elite list soon. David Warner, Kohli and Quinton de Kock share the fourth spot with 10 centuries each.
