India stalwart Mirabai Chanu said that winning three gold medals for India at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) is a dream come true moment for her. Chanu won
her third consecutive medal at the CWG after lifting a total weight of 190Kg, a Commonwealth Games record. She lifted 82Kg and 85 KG in the snatch attempts before lifting 105 Kg in the clean and jerk. She comfortably finished first, ahead of Nigeria's Ruth Asuquo Nyong (168kg) and Malaysia's Irene Jane Henry (167kg), who won silver and bronze, respectively. Chanu said that people's love and support have made her achieve the stunning milestone. "I am very happy. It is the love and support of so many people. They prayed for me and trusted that I would win another gold medal. It is a dream come true for a player to win three consecutive gold medals at the Commonwealth Games," Mirabai Chanu told Sports Now. The win was easy for Chanu, but she faced many challenges before the event, including an injury. However, she overcame the obstacle and won the prestigious gold for India. " A lot was going on in my mind. I had to face many challenges to reach here. I suffered an injury during training and had to overcome a lot of difficulties," she said.
'I Wanted To Do Something For India' - Mirabai Chanu
Chanu said that she was keen to do something for the country, which kept her motivated, even in difficult times."I wanted to do something for India," she said.
