It is a known fact that India is a cricket-crazy nation, and
therefore, the country has no dearth of brilliant stadiums. Fortunately, some of the stadiums are the home stadiums of IPL franchises, and therefore, ahead of the tournament’s first game, we have listed our favourite IPL home stadiums. Note that taste is subjective, and our favourites may not align with yours.
Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Situated on the bank of the river Hooghly and surrounded by several historic buildings such as Raj Bhavan, the Calcutta High Court, Writers’ Building, St. John’s Church and many more, the stadium not only allows spectators to watch the game but also allows them to walk to these nearby attractions that speak about Kolkata’s rich history. Inside, the massive seating capacity and the ambience that turns purple make the stadium look like a fort at night from a bird’s eye view. The 68,000-seating capacity also plays a vital role in turning the ambience into an electrifying experience.

One of the newest cricket stadiums in the country, the PCA is the home stadium of the Punjab Kings with a seating capacity of 38,000. What makes this stadium special in our book of thoughts is that it is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the city, amidst lush green farmlands on all sides. Therefore, the drive from Chandigarh towards the stadium is an experience in itself. Inside the stadium, given that it's quite new, all facilities are top-notch and in better condition than those in older stadiums in the country.

There is no IPL franchise from the Northeast of India, but the Rajasthan Royals chose the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati to unlock a new set of franchise fans and also bring people of the Northeast closer to cricket. The stadium is one of our favourites, given that it is surrounded by hills and enjoys pleasant weather year-round, which makes it less exhausting for players. Despite Guwahati being a small city in terms of population compared to metropolitan cities, the stadium offers a flexible seating capacity of 40,000-46,000, allowing a large number of supporters to gather and cheer for the home side.

Finally, there is one more stadium that we genuinely love, and it is none other than the Wankhede Stadium, the home of the Mumbai Indians. Situated on the Marine Drive, the stadium offers a vibe that cannot be described in words. To truly grasp the indescribable feeling, you must visit the ground. The cool breeze from the Arabian Sea in the evening, coupled with 33,000 fans shouting at the top of their lungs for Mumbai, is simply surreal.
