Since 2022, the Gujarat Titans have reached the playoffs on three occasions in four seasons
In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), three teams, i.e.,
the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans, have already reached the play-offs. Given the chaotic battle for fourth place, it is not possible to determine which team will ultimately finish fourth and qualify for the playoffs.
However, at this juncture, we are impressed that the Gujarat Titans will play their third playoff since debuting in 2022.
Ahead of the next stage of the tournament, let us check out the Gujarat Titans’ track record in the playoffs.
2022
In their debut season, the Gujarat Titans topped the table stage by collecting 20 points in 14 matches. Under Hardik Pandya’s captaincy, the team had an effortless victory by seven wickets against the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier I. Despite a target of 188 set by the Royals, Pandya played a captain’s knock and scored 40 runs in 27 balls, whereas David Miller finished the game with 68 runs in 38 deliveries.

Eventually, the Rajasthan Royals reached the final, and the two sides met once again. However, similar to the result of the qualifier I, Titans won the game, with Pandya picking up three wickets to demolish the Royals' batting line-up.

2023 again saw the Gujarat Titans top the table with 20 points in 14 matches. However, in the qualifier I, the team lost to Chennai Super Kings by 15 runs. The qualifier II saw them clash with the Mumbai Indians and steal a victory that gave them a second life. Unfortunately, in the final, the team faced the Chennai Super Kings once again and lost.

No drama, no noise… just smart cricket, calm leadership and the guidance of “coconut boy” Ashish Nehra from the dugout. 🥥🔥

In 2024, GT lingered at the bottom of the table, but the team made a strong comeback in 2025 by finishing once again in the top four. The Titans collected 18 points in 14 matches and finished third in the table. However, the campaign ended in the eliminator, as the team lost to the Mumbai Indians by 20 runs.

In the ongoing season, the team has already forayed into the top four with 18 points in 14 matches. With Gill’s strong leadership and the team's performance, the Titans are well-positioned to secure a title win. In case they do so, they will become one of the most successful teams in IPL’s history to taste two titles within a span of four years from debuting.
