FC Barcelona, the defending Champions of the La Liga have started the season on a positive note having won 6 out of 8 matches in the La Liga. However, they were defeated in the Champions League’s group
stage fixture by the European heavyweights PSG, who were without many of their star players due to injury. Barcelona were completely dominated by the Ligue 1 Champions in the second-half of the match because of which the match ended 2-1.
Reacting to the performances of FC Barcelona in recent times, former Real Madrid Veteran midfielder who decided to retire from Real Madrid in May 2024, was seen talking about the flaws in the system of FC Barcelona. The former German player emphasised on the fact that Barcelona’s football style is one of the best in the world under their manager Hansi Flick. However, this result will not help them in producing consistent results as it makes the players fatigued way too early in the match.
On a bad day for Pedri or Lamine or Raphinha, any team can hurt them and beat them: Reports
The 35-year-old suggested that the manager needs to look for other options which will help him to produce consistent performances and end matches on a winning note. He stated that, "Barcelona has one of the most attractive styles, if not the most attractive in all of Europe, but I think they take too many risks. On a bad day for Pedri or Lamine or Raphinha, any team can hurt them and beat them, you can knock them out of the Champions League. That happened last season against Inter, and this season, they will come up against a team of that type that knocks them out."
Toni Kroos further added that a player like Pedri is more important for the Barcelona squad than Lamine Yamal because of the way he controls the game and because of Barcelona’s playing style. It will be interesting to see how Barcelona will perform further in this season if Pedri misses some games further in the season.
